Many schools are concerned with privacy when it comes to student’s work. Having students use a blog as a journal instead of a notebook has a variety of benefits: journaling can happen anywhere they have computer access, instant feedback with comments, no crowding your desk with journals, no writing downtime while you catch up on grading a paper journal. Blogs are great for all these reasons, but many on not so keen on their students being so exposed.
Penzu is the shy journalist’s solution! Penzu is an online journal (it even looks like notebook paper!) that allows students to journal their little hearts out online in a protected area, but they can choose what they share with others (via e-mail or a public link).
On thing that I really like about this is that it also becomes a place that your students can take notes in class.
